AFINET partners meet together in Newbury (UK)

AFINET project progresses and partners held the second consortium meeting on 20-21st June in Newbury (UK) by the Organic Research Center (ORC).

AFINET Innovation Brokers presented first progress on the RAINs creation in each country. All first RAIN meeting will be held before the end of September. Partners exchanged also ideas about how to communicate and disseminate the project and its results to the main stakeholders and the society in general.

After a long day of discussions, partners visited Tolhurst Organics, an innovative farm specialized in organic food where they saw on field different agroforestry practices. Some partners joined the Agroforestry Conference: improving productivity for farmers and foresters, where a special session allocated to farmers was organized and where the project was presented by ORC.

The meeting were also attended by members of the Advisory Board: Professor PK Nair (USA), Professor Vimala Nair (USA), Professor Anastasia Pantera (Greece) accompanied by Elpiniki Papageorgiou, Mr. Eloy Villada (President of the Galician Grassland and Forage Society), Paul Burgess (Cranfield University) and Patrick Worms (Word Agroforestry Centre).

The next AFINET meeting will be hosted in the Instituto Superior de Agronomía (ISA) (Lisbon, Portugal) in December 2017.
